Zangers Russell Hitchcock en Graham Russell maakten in de jaren zeventig onderdeel uit van de cast en raakten direct bevriend. Hun gezamenlijke passie voor The Beatles legde daarvoor de basis. De mannen vulden elke vrije minuut met het zingen van Beatles nummers. Het leidde in 1975 tot de oprichting van hun eigen band \u003Cem>‘Air Supply’\u003C\u002Fem>. Het begin van een succesverhaal dat Hitchcock en Russell wereldfaam bezorgde. Rod Stewart maakte Air Supply bekend onder een groot publiek door de band als voorprogramma op te nemen tijdens een tournee in 1977 door Amerika, Canada en Australië. Dit vormde de opmaat naar de grote doorbraak. Gedurende de jaren tachtig bleef Air Supply onverminderd succesvol. Een mijlpaal in de geschiedenis van de Australische formatie is het nummer \u003Cem>‘Making love out of nothing at all’\u003C\u002Fem>. Dit lied werd in 1983 uitgebracht en bleek een schot in de roos. Meer dan 5 miljoen singles gingen over de toonbank en maakten van dit lied de succesvolste release ooit van de groep. Air Supply is wereldwijd één van de meest populaire bands. Tot op de dag vandaag maakt de groep grote tournees, vooral door de Verenigde Staten. In dat land scoorde Air Supply – grotendeels in de jaren tachtig - maar liefst acht top tien hits.
