AMSTERDAM, November 9, 2022 — KIT Royal Tropical Institute announces the appointment of a new CEO, Henri van Eeghen, as of 1 January 2023.
Henri van Eeghen has extensive international experience, both in the private sector and as the director of non-profit organisations like the Dutch development organisation Cordaid, the American Mercy Corps, and most recently, the Synergos Institute, an international philanthropy network.
Given the breadth of KIT’s research and education work, with project partners and alumni worldwide, Mr van Eeghen is keen to collaborate with existing partners and forge new partnerships. “I am looking forward to exploring opportunities in which we can make a difference in this world together!” he said.
According to Paul Strengers, chairman of KIT's Supervisory Board, "Henri van Eeghen is an internationally respected leader who links entrepreneurship to social causes. We look forward to working with Henri on the effort to further build KIT's international profile and impact as a centre of expertise, education, and hospitality for a more sustainable world”.
Mr van Eeghen succeeds Mark Schneiders, who will retire from KIT at the end of 2022. Mr Schneiders has been at the helm of KIT since 2014. KIT is very grateful for his decisive leadership during KIT's transition from a subsidy-driven organisation to a financially independent organisation dedicated to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, at home in Amsterdam and internationally.
