A record-breaking European Silk Road Summit is about to begin
The European Silk Road Summit 2022, which takes place on 7 and 8 December in Duisburg, Germany, is ready to kick off. This is the event’s sixth and largest edition, with more than 300 attendees coming from 26 different countries. This year’s topic, “getting ready for a new chapter,” focuses on Eurasian rail freight in times of uncertainty and the optimal approaches to keep it resilient and robust.
Panel discussions, keynote presentations, technical topics, dedicated networking and knowledge-sharing time, drinks and dinner and an exciting site visit are all part of the programme.
On top of that, the Silk Road Ambassador 2022 public choice award is waiting for its winner. The winner will be announced at the end of the conference programme on Thursday, 8 December.
We start with a visit to logport I area
Just like the European Silk Road Summit is RailFreight’s flagship event, so is Duisburg, in terms of logistics, for the North-Rhine Westphalia region in Germany, Europe and the Silk Road. Considering this, the two-day event could not possibly start in a better way than a site tour and visit.
On the morning of 7 December, delegates will have the opportunity to receive more detailed information on the origins and history of the duisport Group, gain an impression of the importance of the world’s largest inland port in the international economy, and get to know logport I logistics area and the terminals there, where a large number of New Silk Road trains depart from.
The programme begins
After the site tour, it will be time for action. The European Silk Road Summit will commence the conference programme on 7 December, just after the site visit. Two full sessions on day one and four more on day two (8 December) promise interesting speeches and panel discussions, insightful presentations, in-depth analyses of technical topics and a Silk Road overview focusing on interactive and engaging knowledge sharing.
Where do we stand currently, and where do we want the Silk Road to take us? How do geopolitics, inflation, the energy crisis and Covid-19 policies shape the Eurasian corridor? What do Europeans need from China and vice versa? How can we optimise Silk Road services? We will try to answer these and more questions during the conference programme.
Networking and expo
Of course, the fun element could not be missing from this edition. Apart from networking breaks, a full-on networking dinner will take place on the evening of 7 December. Delegates will be able to enjoy drinks and fruitful business talks accompanied by good food, music and a cosy atmosphere!
On top of that, in this edition, we have another special element. An expo area at the event where our partners will show their products and services and network with the attendees. Are you interested in becoming a partner of the upcoming edition and promoting your product or service to a dedicated international audience?
Silk Road Ambassador 2022
The Silk Road Ambassador 2022 award is the latest addition to the concept of the European Silk Road Summit. The Eurasian rail freight corridor is characterised by hard-working and dedicated professionals who do their best to keep the product competitive and attractive.
It is time for them to stand out! After a round of public nominations, RailFreight.com selected the top-three nominees according to the audience’s preference. The three nominees are:
Kelvin Tang, Global Rail & Multimodal Product Leader, CEVA Logistics
Thomas Kowitzki, Vice President Chinarail/Multimodal Service, DHL Global Forwarding
Uwe Leuschner, Partner, LUXX Service GmbH
The award winner will be determined by public voting. The audience is already voting for a week, and the participation is immense. Public voting will close on 7 December at 23:59. The award winner will be announced on 8 December, during the European Silk Road Summit in Duisburg, after the physical attendees cast their vote for one last time.
