Gallery Delaive celebrating the 100 years of Sam Francis at BRAFA 2023

On Thursday the 26th of February the BRAFA Art fair will officially open. The Brafa Art Fair, created in 1956, is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious art fairs, famous for the high quality fine art, antiques, modern and contemporary art and design

The fair takes place this year from Sunday 29 January to Sunday 5 February.

For the first time ever Gallery Delaive will participate in this thrilling fair, for it presents the perfect commencement to the celebration of the 100th year since the birth of Sam Francis (1923-1994). Several galleries will have work by the American abstract-expressionist on view and Gallery Delaive, as the official representative of the Sam Francis Foundation in Europe, will dedicate a large part of its booth (no. 128) to his work by presenting a carefully curated selection of works on canvas, works on paper and even a sculpture. To follow up the gallery will hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year in order to celebrate the work and legacy of Francis, showing a large amount of Francis’ works and even a selection of his prints and monotypes. 

Additionally, the stand will showcase an array of works by Karel Appel spanning the period of 1960-1991, displaying Appel's mastery of color and his raw and unique brushwork.
